Michelle Trachtenberg, who was best known for her roles in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Gossip Girl", has died at the age of 39. Trachtenberg was found dead in a New York apartment near Columbus Circle on Wednesday, several US media outlets reported.
The actress was found by her mother around 8 a.m. Wednesday at One Columbus Place, a 51-story luxury apartment complex in Manhattan's Central Park South neighborhood, the sources said.
Trachtenberg reportedly recently underwent a liver transplant. In recent months, she has posted a series of disturbing photos on Instagram, where the award-winning actress has 800,000 followers, in which she appeared gaunt and frail. Some fans then demanded to know what led to her surprising weight loss, with many asking if she was taking drugs. In January, Trachtenberg responded to her fans' concerns, writing that she was "happy and healthy" and had never had any plastic surgery.
